As a proud NWJC Partner, SHEWISE are supporting and join @weareNWJC 's calls for urgently needed, dedicated funding to enable #womenscentres + women's orgs to respond to the support needs of women impacted by the early release scheme + Probation Reset.
Read NWJC's press release:
As the new UK Government starts to address the crisis besieging our prison system, women’s centres and women’s specialist organisations will be needed more than ever before. Through its spending review and strategic approach, the government must continue to recognise the value that properly funded women’s specialist services represent and commit to embedding accessible and sustainable funding structures as a priority. Any plans for women’s justice will only be successful with women’s justice organisations at their heart.
SHEWISE are proud to be one of the 26 partners of the NWJC, expert in delivering trauma-informed, women-centred casework support to women affected by the criminal justice system. Many of their partners offer services through women’s centres and from women-only premises, both locally and regionally. SHEWISE will continue to support and be in alignment with NWJS values and work towards NWJC’s collective mission to drive systemic change to reduce the stigmatisation of women and girls in contact with the criminal justice system and improve outcomes for them.
